JeffLib

[it's a portmanteau of "jeff" and "adlib"]

let me start this of by saying: i don't know shit about fuck when it comes to coding. the closest i've ever gotten to writing real code is using wiggle-expressions in after effects, or putting together stupid flash-style games in clickteam fusion and construct 3 (which, for the uninitiated, doesn't contain any written code and is all just menus).

i'd also like to address how services like chatGPT is draining creativity out of previously creatively-driven endevours, and how it/they are responsible for much of the absolute garbage slop that we are forced to endure online these days.

that said though, like with everything, it's more complex than just "good" or "bad", and to generalize all AI as bad is, in my opinion, kinda stupid. even before this whole "AI boom" that is happening, AI has been used in so many features of so many softwares for a long time (like sky replacement, magic wand and such tools in photoshop, to give some easy examples). in general i think the mixup of "AI" and "generative AI" taints a lot of the public opinion regarding such tools, which we can thank tech bros for. "uHhH sToP gAtEkEePiNg!! aRtIsT wiLL bE oBsOLeTe iN fOuR yEaRs!!", suck my ass, dude.

but uh, i digress.

one area that i've been personally really stoked of having AI implemented into, is basic coding. like mentioned, idk how to do it and it doesnt work with my brain. but ever since i was like 10 years old, i get these small ideas for standalone softwares and little applications that often just serves a single purpose, and ive lately been using chatGPT to create them. having chatgpt iterate and basically create all of it is kinda pushing its capabilities, so what im able to make in this way ends up being quite limited, but honestly, that's probably good. to keep the scope down and all that.

so uh, this stream of consciousness ramble aside;

i made JeffLib!

(or rather, chatGPT made jefflib based on me screaming at it for hours)

it's a very simple one-purpose software, but for me it does exactly what i want, nothing more, nothing less.

i explain pretty well what it does if you just go the page for it, but essentially it's a subtitling tool that uses a combination of a script that you give it AND transcription of your audio (which it does automatically), which allows it to (somewhat) accurately transcribe your video content based on the script while ALSO keeping in any script deviations or adlibs that you do while filming.

it's completely free, and comes with no guarantees, but if you wanna try it out you can either click the image at the top or on the button below.
